Lincoln vs Wrexham: TV channel, team news and predicted line ups
Wrexham will hope for a positive end to the League One season when they travel to face Lincoln City at Sincil Bank on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Dragons secured an unprecedented third successive promotion with victory over Charlton last weekend, while the Imps look certain to secure a top-half finish despite their 3-2 loss against Stockport County a week ago. With nothing to play for from either side, it should be a rather relaxing afternoon as two clubs look to end their season on a high.
The 40-year wait is over
If it feels like forever since Wrexham last played in the Championship, you can argue that it is the case. The Red Dragons haven’t played in the second tier since the 1981-82 season, when it was known as the Second Division. They finished two points from safety that season with 44 points from 42 games. Rob McElhenney has already teased he does not believe in the concept of 'consolidation.'
Emotional goodbyes?
Last Saturday’s victory was an emotional one in a good way for the club. This weekend could be different.
Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin are under contract for next season, but neither has even been on the bench over the past few weeks, and both could be playing somewhere else by this summer. Palmer is returning to Lincoln City, a side he helped capture the Vertu Trophy in 2017-18.
Meanwhile, Steven Fletcher has been massive off the bench this year, but is out of contract this summer, as are Mark Howard and Eoghan O’Connell. It seems certain that some players will play their final game for the club at Sincil Bank.
Breaking it up
Lincoln City boast three exceptional players who make it difficult for opposing teams to build up much of an attack. Paudie O’Connor (2.3), Ethan Erhahon (2.1) and Adam Jackson (2.1) are the top three players in the league regarding interceptions per 90. While Michael Skubala’s men have some good defensive players, they also give away their share of set pieces. Lincoln City lead the league in fouls per match (13.2) per FotMob , while Freddie Draper leads League One with 3.8 fouls per 90, and O’Connor is second regarding red cards (two).
