Wycombe vs Wrexham: TV channel, team news and predicted line ups

Wrexham travel to face Wycombe Wanderers in the League One fixture on Saturday afternoon.

Wrexham take on Wycombe Wanderers this weekend in what is arguably the biggest match in the EFL so far this season.

The two sides are tied on 68-points in League One, with Wycombe ahead on goal difference with a game in hand following Wrexham's dismal 2-0 defeat to Reading earlier in the week.

Defensive masterclass

A key reason behind their respective promotion bids are the superb defensive record they both boast. Wycombe have conceded the third-fewest goals in League One (33), with Phil Parkinson’s side ahead of them in second having only conceded 30.

Wycombe have kept a clean sheet in their least League One home matches and have only conceded more than one goal at home once during the entire campaign. Last month, Wrexham conceded just two goals in four away matches in this competition while keeping two clean sheets but were comfortable beaten on Tuesday night.

Time for a change?

After what Wrexham displayed at Reading, it feels as though Parkinson needs to either shake things up or give his side an epic tongue-lashing like we know he’s capable of doing - maybe even both.

The striker partnership of Jay Rodriguez and Sam Smith hasn't quite clicked so far, and there is an argument that the former Burnley forward should be dropped in favour of another striker. Steven Fletcher is best suited to a bench role and Jack Marriott has not started a match since he returned from injury. Mo Faal featured from the bench at Reading while Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer have both dropped down the pecking order. Marriott is the most compelling choice to come into the starting line up and has scored against all but two of Wrexham’s remaining opponents this season, with only Stockport County and Burton Albion keeping him at bay. He’s got two career goals versus Wycombe, including a cracker on matchday one.

Wycombe’s danger man

If there’s one man the Red Dragons need to have their eye on Saturday, it’s Richard Kone. The Ivorian striker still leads League One with 17 goals and has a 0.77 expected goals rate, second only to Steven Fletcher (0.78). He’s got goals in their last two league fixtures, rescuing them with a 93rd-minute equaliser last weekend, while he had their opener against Wrexham earlier this season.

Team news
