Northampton vs Wrexham: TV channel, team news and predicted line ups

Wrexham face Northampton Town in the League One fixture this weekend.

Wrexham will look to build upon their quarter-final victory in the EFL Trophy when they return to League One action against Northampton Town at Saturday lunchtime.

Both sides have a perfect record in February, with the Red Dragons still third in the divisor following a last-gasp 2-1 triumph over Crawley Town, while the Cobblers squeaked past Mansfield Town with a 1- 0 win.

Wrexham’s impressive record against Northampton

Saturday will only be Wrexham’s fourth trip to Sixfields Stadium this century, with the Red Dragons failing to win a single one of those visits. Their last triumph in Northampton came in March 1999 (2-0), though they have rarely come away from their trips to Sixfield Stadium empty-handed. Wrexham have lost just one of their last seven Football League away fixtures against Shoe Army, keeping four clean sheets in that span. Phil Parkinson has a 100% record versus Northampton, winning all eight of his meetings against them as a manager for Colchester United (one), Bradford City (four), Bolton Wanderers (two) and Wrexham (one).

Wrexham’s new dynamic duo

He’s not seen much playing time in his early days at Wrexham in this competition, but Ryan Longman’s made a strong early impact. The former Hull City winger set up the Red Dragons winner against Crawley Town, and his attacking presence seems to have enabled a focal point in this team’s attack from the past to regain some confidence.

Longman and Elliot Lee have played well in limited time together, combining on the winner versus Crawley and for another goal against Port Vale a few days later. Wrexham’s new winger has a knack for strong passes and deliveries into dangerous areas, which is perfect for Lee, who’s gotten plenty of goals in and around the penalty area or close range. Chances are Longman may be more of a super sub given the season Ryan Barnett is having.

Northampton’s danger men

On the other side, Northampton have some strong attacking players that Wrexham will need to keep track of. Cameron McGeehan has eight goals this season, while Mitch Pinnock has often been their creative spark with five assists, and Tom Eaves has chipped in with four goals, including an involvement in each of his last two games.

Team News

Wrexham have been without Paul Mullin due to a shin injury, while Luke Bolton and Will Boyle have both been sidelined with calf strains, and Callum Burton remains out because of a torn thigh muscle.

As for Northampton, Callum Morton is seemingly a ways away from returning from the injured list, Ali Koiki has a muscle issue, and Patrick Brough is recovering from a broken leg in September.
